the joy of mornings at Lolo and Lola’s house. As told
through the eyes of a young child, this tender story
captures the love, warmth, and delicious smells of a
Filipino almusal.

and eating with your kamay, Lolo Makes Almusal is a
cozy cultural hug you’ll want to share with your whole

Jane Elevado

Jane was born in the Philippines and has so many fond memories of her childhood there. She lived with her parents and grandparents outside the city of Olongapo. She is fortunate to have been able to have made visits throughout her life to maintain the ability to speak her native language. Jane has been able to bring her husband and three young children to the Philippines to experience Jeepney and tricycle rides, walk through palengkes, eat taho, fishballs, sorbetes, suman, and fresh pan de sal.

Jane still cooks her scrambled eggs a little burnt, just like Tatay used.
